The Emile Faurie Foundation was set up in 2006 by Emile to tackle the barriers to a sport that can enrich the lives of everyone who participates – at whatever level. The Foundation aims to show children how enjoyable and fulfilling equine sports and careers can be, and to help them follow their dreams - developing personal and social skills along the way. The Foundation has funded 26 projects since starting and up to 12,000 children have been funded. Schools and Youth Projects can approach the Foundation for funding.
Schools can send groups of 10 or 12 children each week during term-time, for a course of lessons at selected BHS approved riding establishments. These courses cover the care of the animals, as well as riding instruction and an introduction to the variety of competitive sports involving horses. Up to 20 children ride each week with the school changing groups throughout the term The Foundation does not want any child to have to stop riding once they have started so some of the projects now have 2 groups riding each week!
The children experience the fun and freedom of horse riding and gain a real sense of achievement having mastered the challenge of learning to ride or care for the ponies they meet.
If you are interested in becoming involved, either as a school, riding establishment, sponsor or fundraiser, please visit our dedicated pages.
The Foundation is self funding and relies on generous donations as well as fund raising events. The number of projects the EFF funds has risen over the years and now over 40 projects are being funded. In 2022 Emile hopes to raise the profile of the Foundation to help provide more funds and help more children to have this invaluable experience of being with horses.
Emile is one of the country’s top international dressage riders and trainers and has represented Great Britain at World, European and Olympic level. He is a list two British Dressage judge.
